Terms of use

BushMap reads the government's own maps and tells you what they say. It is a research tool, not an authority, and the responsibility for what you do on the ground stays with you.

The one that matters

BushMap's answers are our best read of public government data, not a guarantee. Property lines on those maps can be out by thirty metres or more. Seasons, limits and boundaries change, and the official regulations always win. Before you hunt, fish, camp or light a fire, satisfy yourself that it is legal and safe where you are standing.

What BushMap is

A map and a reading of public data: Crown land and patented land, wildlife management units and fisheries zones, seasons and limits, provincial parks and conservation reserves, and our own ratings of ground and water. Every card shows the evidence behind its answer, and says so when the evidence is thin or missing.

What BushMap is not

Your responsibilities

The data

BushMap uses public data from Ontario, from the Government of Canada, and from OpenStreetMap contributors, along with our own analysis. That data can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and our reading of it can be wrong too. Where we cannot see something, the app is built to say so rather than guess — but an honest gap is still a gap.

No warranty

BushMap is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that it will be accurate, available, or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, BushMap and Brandon Thompson are not liable for any loss, injury, fine, charge or damage arising from your use of the app or from reliance on anything it shows. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

These terms may change as BushMap changes. The date below says when they last did. Continuing to use the app after a change means accepting it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there.
